Sneak Peek: Vanessa Gade’s New Forme Collection

San Francisco jewelry designer Vanessa Gade‘s new Forme Collection launched over the weekend at L.A.’s Dwell on Design exhibition. Ushering in more of Gade’s streamlined, architectural approach to jewelry, the new pieces diverge from her past work with perfect circles and rectangles to focus on irregular geometric shapes in sterling silver, oxidized silver and 14K gold.

The collection ($75-$350) won’t be available for purchase until July, but Gade is offering a sneak peek of her latest necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings on her web site. Like her previous collections, her current pieces channel undercurrents of Japanese and Scandinavian design. The presence of delicate chains in many pieces adds complexity to the spare shapes. With their clean lines and modern aesthetic, Gade’s jewelry is understated in a way that makes it easy to where everyday, but is, upon closer inspection, a wearable work of art.

Shock Therapy: Culturshock by Culturcosm

Cultureshock-Event-at-Space-Gallery

We just learned about the Culturshock show from the folks at Culturcosm taking place tomorrow night at Space Gallery, and we’re certainly glad that we did (thanks much, Sara!). It’s a chance to peep the work of local artists and independent designers, many of whom aren’t regular suspects on the Bay Area shopping event circuit.

Stop by to peruse the latest offering from ReMade USA Handbags, Litter SF, Taryn McCabe, Vanessa Gade, Hilary Williams, Nate1 of New Skool and others amid beats by DJ ExtraLars.

And we are quite intrigued by the promise of surprise entertainment.

Now that’s our kind of shock therapy.

On Sunday, brunch it up with two of San Francisco’s metal-working wonders: Colleen Mauer and Vanessa Gade at Chrissy Bee Boutique & Gallery in the Upper Haight. We’re big fans of both designers, who do industrial chic in a way that makes us want to hole up in a SoMA loft, pop a bottle of Champagne and crank up Cure for Pain.

Want to learn more about Deb, the owner of Chrissy Bee? We interviewed her in March 2007. Check it out: Indie Interview: Deborah Genet, Chrissy Bee.
