We Came, We Saw, We Shopped: Urban Air Market

Last weekend’s Urban Air Market was a feast for the eyes, thanks to block-upon-block of designers and artists lined up to showcase everything from headpieces made of vintage mesh bags to furry throws and funky socks. Our intrepid photographer Jennymay Villarete made the rounds to capture designers on duty, as well as shoppers browsing the booths.

Below, a few of our favorite shots from the sunny Sunday afternoon in San Francisco. Check out our Urban Air Market Facebook album for many more.

SF Fashion Events: SEE Eyewear Opening, Shopping to Benefit Homeless Prenatal Program, Urban Air Market + More

Well, hello, September. Suddenly, we’re almost in the middle of you. Quelle surprise! But onto this week’s events. Monday night, we’re heading to the SEE Eyewear VIP Opening Party on Market Street, where Project Runway‘s Mondo Guerra will be turning up. On Thursday, shop for a worthy cause during Conifer’s Fall Shopping Night benefiting the Homeless Prenatal Program. Once the weekend rolls around, prep for Saturday trunk shows from local sources such as Camilla Olson, Serial Cultura and Clary Sage Organics. Close it all out at the Urban Air Market, the massive outdoor independent fashion, design and art festival that hits Hayes Valley twice a year.

Find details on these and other upcoming San Francisco fashion events waiting on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar. And of course, as you know, it doesn’t stop there. We’re adding new fashion happenings all the time, so check back often.

SF Fashion Events: 3 Fashion Shows, Urban Air Market + More

If you like a session beside the runway, this week’s for you. The only problem: a trio of worthy shows on the same night. We’ll let you decide how to fill up your dance card. Will it be the invite-only Academy of Art Fashion Show (there’s a public repeat on Sunday, though minus the presence of special guest such as Alexander McQueen’s Sara Burton), Runway 2012: Defined featuring San Francisco State University graduating designers’ collections or Bianca Starr’s Spring Forward Fashion Show with apparel from Wonderland, Sui Generis, Density Dept and Top Shelf? While you’re figuring that one out, look ahead to the weekend, when you’ll have the chance to engage in more independent fashion adventures during the return of Artwear at the de Young and Urban Air Market.
