Just a TAD: New Women’s Apparel from SF’s Triple Aught Design

Nice news for all you adventurous girls out there: San Francisco-based Triple Aught Design (a.k.a. TAD) keeps rolling out more ultra-functional, good-looking women’s apparel ready for seriously hardcore outdoor excursions – or just looking like you’re up for one – your choice.

Known for making men’s apparel using high-tech fabrics capable of standing up to survivalist missions (seriously), but urban-friendly and sleek enough to wear to the bar (at least by San Francisco style standards), the label’s women’s collection started off with a single hoodie and is slowly gaining momentum. You can shop three different hoodie styles on the site at the moment, and, coming soon, a layering henley, tailored shirt and merino wool sweater will join the mix.

Above, some pics of the apparel in action.

Triple Aught Design Launches New Woman’s Valkyrie Hoodie

Fleece, you may want to brace yourself. It’s one of those, there’s-a-new-sheriff-in-town kinda things. Brand new and here to regulate is the women’s Valkyrie Hoodie from Triple Aught Design, a San Francisco-based company known for making high-performing men’s apparel coveted by everyone from outdoor adventurers to undercover cops.

One of the few items the company offers for women, the new, made-in-the-USA design packs the same durability as the men’s counterpart, but is cut to flatter the female form. Sure, at $235, it’s just a wee bit more expensive than your average hoodie. But then, its charms go far beyond looks: the zip-up jacket is four times as effective at blocking wind than standard fleece, thanks to DWR-treated Polartec® WindPro® fabric. Freedom of movement comes courtesy of the single underarm panel that runs from cuff to hem, while half-mitt sized thumbholes help keep your hands warm. Last but not least, the jacket’s signature Aero Hood is designed to lie flat when not in use for a sleeker, more polished profile.
