The Do List: San Francisco Fashion Events This Week

The SF Indie Fashion Calendar is always full of events to keep San Francisco fashion lovers busy with trunk sales, beauty happenings, fashion shows and places to shop from independent sources. This week is no exception. Here’s our pick of top events this week:

  • Take a fashionable break mid-week during a Spring/Summer 2011 preview event from San Francisco label gr.dano, whose designers Brian Scheyer and Jill Giordano were chosen to participate in this year’s prestigious California Design Biennial and also featured in the 2010 7×7 magazine Style Council. Held at 440 Brannan Studio in SoMa, the event features a live model exhibit, as well as vino and other refreshments. The full SF Indie Fashion crew will be in attendance, along with folks from Polyvore and The Chic Spy.
  • Thursday brings the start of the Liz Palacios Sample Sale, which marks the only time the San Francisco-based jewelry company’s headquarters will be open to the public all year. Stop by for discounted prices (many below wholesale) on the line’s accessories made with Swarovski crystals, enamel and semi-precious stones. The sale runs 10 am-6 pm on Thursday and Friday.
  • Come Thursday night, style hounds from all over San Francisco will have reason to celebrate during San Francisco Style 2010 festivities. In an effort to highlight fashion and style in San Francisco (a la Fashion’s Night Out in New York), the citywide event includes an eco-fashion show at the Bently Reserve, a pop-up shop featuring local designers at SPUR and late store hours at boutiques in numerous neighborhoods. You’ll find individual event details on the San Francisco Style Facebook page.
  • Once the weekend rolls around, it’s a fine time to kick off your holiday shopping during Sunday’s Thread at the Metreon. Along with a slew of local and independent fashion and accessories designers offering great deals on merchandise (up to 80 percent off retail), the event promises live fashion presentations, giveaways, beauty perks at the complimentary hair and makeup style lounge, a clothing swap and drink specials. Admission is $1o at the door, $5 with an advance RSVP and $8 if you show proof of your arrival by public transportation or bring a bag of clothing to swap.

You can find details on all of these events and more happening this week on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.

Thread Show San Francisco

It doesn’t get any more indie at this Saturday’s Thread Show event, as San Franciscans get to conveniently explore over a hundred local designers of diverse fashion, jewelry, furniture, books, housewares and eco-friendly designs, all while bobbing heads to live bands, munching on complimentary food and enjoying a fashion show.

As if all that isn’t appealing enough, the event also provides a style lounge, spring trends, style tips, discounts and free magazines.

This traveling event will first set up its racks in San Francisco before making its way to Orange County and won’t return to the Bay Area again until November, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Admission is $8 with advance RSVP and $10 at the door, but bring a bag of clothes to be donated to a local charity, and you’ll get in for $8.00 on the day of the event.
