The Do List: San Francisco Fashion Events Sept. 6-11

While a little fashion-centric event kicks off on the East Coast this week, you’ll find noteworthy style diversions happening right here in the Bay. With numerous Fashion’s Night Out events, a local label’s fall collection launch at an adored fashion haunt and a sample sale featuring local designers, there’s much to do and then some. You’ll find the details on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.

  • It’s a short week, so it should come as no surprise that things don’t really heat up on the stylescape until Thursday, at which point you’ll have some tough decisions to make. A seemingly endless array of San Francisco Fashion’s Night Out events are overtaking the City. We’d love to see you at the Two Birds + Ali Golden party we’re co-hosting. You’ll find a slew of other good bets on this list and this list and also on this list.
  • Friday brings two events we dare say we’re drooling over. First up, there’s the Retrofit Republic Anniversary + Lookbook Launch Party at The Summit. Along with serious style from this local retailer of recycled wears, the event highlights 10 community heroes who’ve given back. We’ll have much more to say about this event later in the week.
  • Also on Friday, the folks at Modern Appealing Clothing (MAC) host the McIntoshFry Fall Collection Launch at their Dogpatch location. The collaborative line combines the work of evening wear designer Julia Fry and painter Lauren McIntosh in an assortment of tops, dresses, coats and shawls featuring eco-friendly textiles and arresting prints.
  • Close out the weekend by skipping over the Golden Gate Bridge and hunting down pieces from local, independent designers at The Marin Store Sample Sale, featuring names such as Amy Fink, juleseslin, Dear Mina, April Reno, Vanessa Gade, Sarah Swell and many others.

You can find details on all of these events and more happening this week on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.

Snap Judgment: Bettina Linda Coat

Linda Coat by Bettina, $184 (reg. $210)

Our very-visual, (almost) chatter-free snap judgment of the day: The basic-but-far-from-boring Linda Coat by San Francisco-based Bettina, now on sale at The Marin Store. Asymmetrical pockets and a jaunty collar give this otherwise simple black coat artistic edge.

The Do List: San Francisco Fashion Events this Week

The SF Indie Fashion Calendar is always full of events to keep San Francisco fashion lovers busy with trunk sales, beauty happenings, fashion shows and places to shop from independent sources. This week is no exception. Here’s our pick of top events this week:

  • Flex your D.I.Y. muscles with the monthly Craft Bar with etsy Labs on Thursday at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art on Yerba Buena Lane. Afterward, hit up Press Club for some vino.
  • On Friday, meet What Not to Wear’s Clinton Kelly at Macy’s, where the fashion aficionado will select six shoppers to participate in an on-the-spot style challenge and a chance to win a $100 gift card. Spend $100 in the Women’s department or the Estee Lauder counter, and you’ll receive an autographed copy of Kelly’s new book, Oh No She Didn’t: Top 100 Mistakes Women Make and How to Avoid Them.
  • You’ll have several diversions to choose from on Saturday, as the Marin Store Holiday Sample Sale stocked with apparel and accessories by Bay Area designers offers ample reason to head north of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Eyemimo’s Kensington Tea Party entices city dwellers to experiment with false eyelashes during a free afternoon event.  Also that afternoon, online shop SeeZenn.com launches with a fashion show and accompanying festivities under the dome in the Westfield Centre San Francisco.
  • Close out the weekend with a jaunt to Indie Mart to get a head start on your holiday shopping.
