Recap: Cody Sai’s Bay Area Launch

codysaiparty04

On Friday, Berkeley native and New York-based independent designer Cody Adler-McAllister brought selections from his newly-launched Cody Sai label to the Bay Area for a cocktail reception at Ideas in Motion Studio.

During the event, Adler-McAllister (below, middle) and models donning spring 2010 Cody Sai looks mingled with the crowd over cocktails. We look forward to seeing more from this F.I.T. grad, who just happens to count legendary Dutch-born designer Koos van den Akker (of Cosby sweater fame) as his chief mentor.

We’ve found plenty of reasons to speed through the rest of 2009. If we see one more vacant storefront in our fair City, we’ll cry, and we have reason to believe Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion is done-zo in San Francisco (stay tuned for more on that later).

But there is at least one bit of fashion news we ran across this week that’s utterly uplifting: the forthcoming spring 2010 collection from Serial Cultura.

Earlier this month, designer Jen Jennings joined forces with photographer Ben Mayorga, stylist Sharon Maloney and jewelry designer Brian Crumley to shoot the latest from the Bay Area label best known for its standout prints. The above pics taken during down time at the photo shoot give a sneak peek of what’s to come. For more, check out the Serial Cultura blog, where Jennings recently posted casual images from the shoot, as well as a few of her new fabric being printed at a local studio (see below).
