Happy Thanksgiving from SF Indie Fashion. San Francisco is top on our list of things we’re thankful for today. Thanks so much for reading and helping this little project grow over the last four years.

We hope you’re having a fabulous day, whether you’re on the road to grandmother’s house or already scooting your chair a little closer to the table.

We’re off to make pies. It’s chocolate pecan vs. pumpkin. Who will win? We’ll let ya know.

SF Indie Fashion News Roundup

TGIF, folks. Here’s some stylish stuff to distract you from your duties and pepper your weekend with independent fashion fun…

- Woah nelly, there are oodles of great events going down this weekend in the Bay Area. In the fashion-related realm, there’s the Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire in San Mateo, the Union Design Festival (formerly Capsule) in Hayes Valley on Sunday and, we’re happy to report, Funk ‘N Trunk is back this weekend after a hiatus. Visit the SF Indie Fashion Calendar for all the details.

- 1767 Church St., the sister shop to Lower Haight boutique doe, closes on Saturday. Stop by by end-of-day tomorrow for up to 75 percent off the shop’s merch. In July, we hear the shop will become Curator, a new venture from She-Bible.

- Speaking of Church Street, merchants up and down it and 24th Street will be showing off their wares and offering tons of sales this weekend as part of the 2nd Annual Noe Valley Sidewalk Sale.

- Pacific Heights trio of Heidi Says shops will be having a trio of trunk shows tomorrow. Stop by any of the three locations for 20 percent off collections by Gorjana, Kathy Kamei and Gypsy 05.

- Craziness at Artificial Flavor: Guys’ jackets that once went for $200+ are now $20 a piece. Sale ends tomorrow.

- Head to Fort Mason this weekend to get in on two huge sales. Both The Warehouse Sale for premium denim and the Gear Up ‘N Go Season 4 Sale for fitness apparel take place there this weekend.

- A “private” sale is on at Elizabeth Charles. Use the discount code PRESALE when shopping online or mention the presale email in the store to get 30 percent off spring and summer collections.

- Daily Candy reports a Mike & Chris blowout sale happening tomorrow in San Francisco. We are most intrigued.

- We had a great time viewing the latest collection from Zoe Bikini last night at the Bella Forever show. Stay tuned for a video and some pics from that event to appear here soon.

- A bunch of new shops are opening soon, on land and online. Keep your peepers peeled for word about launch parties and newness from Ibiss, Covet and AliceAndIsa.com.

- Fans of BRAVO’s The Fashion Show: You can meet designer Andrew Christian this weekend and see a fashion show of his men’s underwear collection during his upcoming San Francisco appearances.

We’re Giving Away $100 in Yummie Tummie Shapewear

yummie-tummie-lady-leopard3

We always thought shapewear was a wee bit embarrassing. ‘Cause nothing kills the mood quite like a spandex tube the color of nude pantyhose suddenly arriving on the scene of what might otherwise have been the ramp-up to an evening of unbridled lurve.

So you can probably imagine that we were most intrigued by Yummie Tummie, a California-based company that puts some sexy in its shapewear. It’s no accident that we refer to “the sexy” at this juncture. Yummie Tummie founder and designer Heather Thompson, whom we had the pleasure of meeting a few weeks back while she was visiting the City by the Bay, spent several years working right alongside P. Diddy, the man we credit with popularizing “sexy” in its previously non-existent noun form.

But we digress, as often happens on a Friday. Back to the point. We dig Yummie Tummie’s approach to keeping the curves in check (hello, animal print), so we’re giving away a $100 credit to the online store to one SF Indie Fashion reader. To win, leave a comment in response to this post by midnight on May 8, 2009 (next Friday). We’ll randomly select one winner the following day. Good luck!

Follow SF Indie Fashion on Twitter!

Yup, we joined Twitter. The realization that we had to get on the tweet wagon hit us like a stiletto in the eye as we were standing outside the Goldenbleu sample sale nary a week ago thinking to ourselves, wouldn’t it be nice if we could tell the info-hungry public that this sale just ran out of every size 6.5 sample size shoe? And later, we mused, wouldn’t it be nice if we could just tweet out news of a sale as we strolled passed the storefronts of our favorite local shops? But of course it would be nice! Perhaps even quite fabulous.

So now that we’ve joined the revolution, we hope you’ll follow us on Twitter and check out our updates on the right side of the page.
