The Do List: SF Fashion Events Jan. 30-Feb. 5

Three things I generally can’t get enough of: retro-inspired fashion, deals on local designers and getting seriously geeky about blogging. Good thing there’s a little of each one on the horizon this week. The 2nd annual Lesley Evers Studio Sample Sale in Berkeley means a chance to save up to 80 percent on the designer’s v. cute printed dresses, skirts and tops. In San Francisco, I’ll be speaking at Thursday’s FIDM fashion blogging event with Fashionista Lab, Calivintage, FashionablyAshley and iFabbo. Last but not least, Friday’s Girl Power Hour brings a chance to network and unwind at the same time.

See you out and about!

The Do List: SF Fashion Events Jan. 23-29

On the style forecast this week: plenty of snow, the kind that’s actually conducive to heels and comes around but once a year. Snow, A White Fashion Event is back with its annual show featuring all-white collections from local designers and an audience clad in outfits to match. Also on the horizon this week: another Do-It-Yourself Marketing event at TechShop San Francisco put on by jewelry designer Shana Astrachan and Genevieve Robertson of Lightbox SF, a men’s vintage fashion show in the Mission, the return of Geek Style Lounge and the kickoff of the Treasure Island Flea winter pop-up.

The Do List: SF Fashion Events Dec. 12-18

We may not have falling snow, but San Francisco will see flurries of fashionable events this week, the last truly action-packed one on the calendar before folks quiet down to enjoy the holidays. Trunk shows, a boutique crawl, fashion photo fun and plenty of chances to shop local await. As always, you’ll find the details on many great upcoming San Francisco fashion and style events on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar. We’ve called out a few of our favorites below.

  • Travel and style converge on Monday night at Jackson Square’s La Boutique during a Bon Voyage for the Holidays party featuring local designer Jennifer Bennett’s Jendarling line of travel accessories alongside travel and wine tips from Gigi of Giannabocci.com and La Boutique’s Je Ne Sais Quois.
  • Tuesday brings the 1st Annual Union Street Boutique Crawl on Cow Hollow’s main shopping drag. Pop into participating merchants (Chloe Rose, Covet, Marmalade, My Boudoir, Liv, Conifer, Seams, RGB and Bryan Lee) for Champagne, style tips, door prizes and 20 percent off merch.
  • Midweek, it’s time to head to the Mission for Photobooth’s Holiday Big Shot with Mira Mira and Rue Magazine. You’ll find live color polaroid portraits in the works, a Mira Mira pop-up shop, lots of style bloggers and free drinks.
  • On Thursday night, the always popular Thursday night event Nightlife at California Academy of Sciences brings in the local design element with a special holiday edition of Bazaar Bizarre, featuring over 40 independent designers and artisans selling everything from handmade pottery to jewelry and graphic tees.

The Do List: SF Fashion Events Dec. 5-11

An always-stunning sustainable style gala, San Francisco fashion blogger must-dos, in-store parties and holiday shopping events are cheerfully crowding the calendar this week. As always, you’ll find the details on these and many more great upcoming events on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.

  • Much of the City’s glitterati will be glamming up on Tuesday night for Global Green’s 7th Annual Gorgeous & Green Gala. Tickets ($1,000+) for the dinner extravaganza don’t come cheap, but the party-goers who spring for the experience will be treated to an eco fashion show, music by Michelle Branch, food by such chefs as Michael Mina and lots of other goodies. Proceeds benefit Global Green’s projects in San Francisco and beyond.
  • Two events are sure to entice San Francisco fashion bloggers out on the town this week. First up, on Wednesday, Jackson Square’s La Boutique hosts the Polyvore x iFabbo Blogger Happy Hour, which is already drawing RSVPs from stylish staffers of companies such as Google, ModCloth, Gap and Salesforce.com, as well as many Bay Area bloggers we heart. Then on Sunday, the SFFMMA teams up with SeeZenn to host a Geek Style Lounge Launch & Holiday Party at the Westfield Centre. A blogging panel featuring Mira of the Beauty Bohemian, Savvy in San Francisco’s Melissa, the Chic Spy’s Mignon Gould and others will be a key part of the event.
  • In true holiday season style, the rest of the week is full of parties and chances to shop local. Getting festive with independent fashion will be oh-so-easy, thanks to holiday parties and shindigs from Pladra, Fiat Lux, Conifer, Secession Art + Design, The Factory, Clary Sage Organics and Boutiika at Azalea. We’re gonna keep it simple let you peep all the detes on the cal.

The Do List: SF Fashion Events Nov. 21-27

It’s the week of our absolute favorite holiday of the year. Things will be quieter in San Francisco fashion land until we’ve gorged ourselves on Thursday, but then there’s much to do. You’ll find us blurbing a few of our favorite events here and complete details, as always, on the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.

  • First things first, enjoy cooking and baking and sitting and eating and talking and drinking and laughing and bitching and napping and cleaning and drinking and eating and giving thanks with your family and friends on Thursday.
  • On Friday, be ready for a deluge of San Francisco Black Friday sales, trunk shows and events. We’ll be rounding up the best of ‘em featuring local, independent sources in the next few days. Stay tuned for that.
  • The following day brings Small Business Saturday, a kind of antidote to Black Friday big box madness. We’ll be featuring a little something special on this nationwide initiative sponsored by American Express later in the week. But for now, know it’s the day to celebrate all those amazing small businesses that make our City so grand.
  • The same day, Molte Cose and Bella Cose owner Teresa Nittolo hosts a Holiday Bazaar and Fundraiser for Firehouse 8, an historic landmark building project that she’s been working on for months and months. The event offers a chance to shop from local artisans and designers such as Kathleen van der Spek, Lotta’s Bakery and Blue Ribbon Salvage and support the revitalization of a beautiful old San Francisco building into a new, multifunctional shopping and event space.
  • In Hayes Valley at Welcome Stranger, pop in on Saturday for the Mayfourtheenth Trunk Show and get an eyeful of this local sunglasses line’s latest styles while chatting with designer Benjamin Belsky.
  • All weekend, a reason to head slightly east comes with the year’s final installment of Treasure Island Flea. A holiday toy drive adds a feel-good element to the outdoor event filled with local vendors, designers and artisans. Bring a toy to donate to kids in need, and you’ll get in for free (reg. admission is $3). Other perks: parking is free, and the event is super kid- and dog-friendly.
