Happy shopping!
Our very-visual, (almost) chatter-free snap judgment of the day: The basic-but-far-from-boring Linda Coat by San Francisco-based Bettina, now on sale at The Marin Store. Asymmetrical pockets and a jaunty collar give this otherwise simple black coat artistic edge.
Usually reserved for wholesale clients, the San Francisco Fashion Collective is opening up its doors to the public this week for a sample sale that includes many of the local labels it houses, as well as others from farther afield that are represented by showrooms in the building. It’s a rare chance to shop directly from these suppliers and get good deals on merchandise that ordinarily wouldn’t be so readily available to those outside the trade.
I’ve been to visit the Altitude Promotions showroom in the building before to check out the latest from designers such as Lorian Lindsay, John S. Brana, REVEAL and others that Karri Ann Frerichs represents, and the experience left me wanting to go shopping right from the racks. This week presents a chance to do just that. And for anyone who generally has an interest in fashion and how showrooms work, exploring what’s inside the SFFC is an interesting excursion in and of itself.
The sale runs through Friday and includes apparel and accessories for women and children from designers such as Weston Wear, Zina Eva handbags, Lorian Lindsay, Fluxus, Kissy Kissy (kids clothes) and others.
Desperate for denim? We’re giving away 30 (that’s right, count ‘em) $50 gift cards good for use at the Warehouse Sale featuring Rock & Republic, which kicks off in Union Square on Black Friday.
That’s going to get you pretty darn close to a free pair of jeans at the sale, known for offering premium denim brands, dresses, tops and casual gear for men and women at up to 80 percent off retail. This year’s holiday sale also includes a selection of outerwear, maternity apparel and children’s clothing.
Down for the deal? Here’s how to score your gift card from the event organizers:

An indie fashion twist on the traditional ramp-up to the holidays comes from local boutique The Mission Statement. For each day in December, the shop’s printable advent calendar offers a special treat for shoppers in the form of discounts and deals on the store’s items, most of which are designed and made by San Francisco companies and labels.
The first week in December, save 25 percent on Vanessa Gade earrings. The following week, ODA necklaces and pillows are 40 percent off, while the rest of the month brings deals on winter accessories, men’s hoodies, Estrella Tadeo apparel and much more.
Stop by the shop to pick up your hard copy or print one out here. Can’t wait for December? The shop is having an all-day Thanksgiving sale this Thursday. See the SF Indie Fashion Calendar for details.
