Runway Recap: Dandy-Licious Fashion Show

As part of its ongoing Friday Nights at the de Young series, the museum recently staged a runway show focused on dapper style. Dubbed the Dandy-licious Fashion Show, the showcase featured apparel by local designer Daniel Sudar, winner of the Jean Paul Gaultier design challenge, Dark Garden, longtime local purveyors of custom-made corsetry, hats by House of Nines Design and suits by Duchess Clothier.

Snap Judgment: Golden Bear for Unionmade Varsity Jacket

Our very-visual, (almost) chatter-free snap judgment of the day:  The heritage wear enthusiasts at Unionmade Goods teamed up with longtime San Francisco-based sportswear label Golden Bear (est. 1922) to generate an updated version of the retro-cool men’s Varsity Jacket, which comes in classic wool Melton ($295) or cotton ($198), ideal if you prefer a lighter layer between you and the elements.

Video: Get Ready for the Man Up Pop-Up Shop

The Man-Up Menswear Pop-Up Shop arrives in San Francisco at the end of the month. In the meantime, the dudes behind the destination for guy’s clothing and accessories from such local sources as AB Fits, Paul’s Hat Works, Taylor Stitch, Unionmade Dry Goods and Beckel Canvas have put together this snazzy little video showcasing the Man Up ethos. Guys running around town in cool clothes, driving cool cars, with 70′s cop show tunes in the background like they’re involved in some kind of very stylish caper – that’s something we can certainly get behind.
