Pretty, Pretty

Edited by Jennine Jacob

It’s official, Spring is in full swing… we’ve all shed our winter fluff and there’s a certain buzz in the air… well, other than the pollen count. Like every week, we have a wonderful selection of links, but the recurring theme here was making ourselves pretty, whether it be donning floral prints, DIY embellishments, watercoloring, even bunny ears or refreshing the ol’ makeup pallette with the new season’s colors.

Oh, and if you’re looking for something to do this summer… IFB is looking for interns!

News: Anti-Tuna on a Plane Campaign, So Stylish Bowling, Oxford Adventures and more…

bianca-starr-goes-bowling-1_8_10

Very official newsflash: tuna fish is not an appropriate snack to bring on an airplane. It just isn’t. Giving it to a smear-happy toddler as an in-flight pacification tool is borderline criminal. In other news…

The crew from new-ish Mission vintage go-to Bianca Starr dressed up to knock ‘em down during a recent bowling tourney. Have you ever seen such swish style at the lanes?

Bare magazine’s blog stirs controversy by questioning V magazine’s recent photo spread featuring larger-than-usual models. Is curvy becoming synonymous with overweight? Should it? Should plumpness be praised or is it just as potentially dangerous to one’s health as being too skinny? All these questions pop up in the debate playing out over at this UC Berkeley blog.

Fans of coveted designer labels, head to Carrots in Jackson Square for the ongoing winter sale. We hear fall RTW collections and shoes are now 60 percent off.

SF Indie Fashion News Roundup: Litter for Nasty Gal? (and more)

shotwell-by-jaclynThere’s a Hells Angels-looking-guy yelling unintelligible nonsense outside our window, but it’s better than the jack hammer that was there last week. In other news….

Also via the Chron, we’re intrigued by artist Rebecca Martinez’s new show at the Robert Tat Gallery featuring photographs of shop window mannequins in disrepair.

We continue to be fascinated with the fashion sensibilities of Rachel Lena Esterline. We think you will be, too…
