Finders Keypers: 823 Key Project

823_key-project

We’re seriously intrigued by the 823KeyProject, an initiative founded by local graphic artist (among other pursuits) Trevor Hubbard, who envisions the project as a way to fund artists’ grants through the sale of one-of-kind key pendant necklaces.

SF Indie Fashion’s Lorraine delves into the details of this innovative project today on the 7×7.com Glamwatch blog. Click the screenshot below to visit that post and learn more about the keys and the artist grants they’ll fund.

Happy to Meet Beautiful Stranger’s Rock ‘N Roll Necklace

beautiful-stranger-necklace

We dig the drapey, asymmetrical look of the handmade Rock ‘N Roll Necklace by local jewelry designer Beautiful Stranger. At $40, this wire-wrapped necklace in silver-plated metal delivers remember-me pizazz with a price tag your wallet may very well soon forget.

Based in San Francisco, Beautiful Stranger is also adding vintage clothing to her etsy shop these days. We’re already enamored of the funky knee socks and pretty sundresses we found there yesterday.

New, Affordable Handcrafted Accessories at MOCFA Store

The next time you’re looking for a gifty-gifty sumthin-sumthin (for yourself or someone else), we’d recommend a visit to the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Folk Art Store. Since new buyer Kpoene’ Kofi-Bruce came on the scene at MOFCA in February, she’s been tapping her extensive network of up-and-coming crafters, designers and artists and introducing their work to shop shelves. For many of the new additions, it’s the first time the designer’s work has been sold in a physical store (almost all are already etsy sellers), and the only permanent retail space to carry the products  in San Francisco.

“I’m really excited about the chance to work with people who haven’t sold anywhere,” Kofi-Bruce told us recently.

Along with at least 10 exclusive in-store designers on view right now, as well as plenty of non-exclusives, we hear price points are low enough to suit gift-givers suffering through today’s economy. Many items carry price tags of well under $100 – not bad for a handcrafted, one-of-kind piece of art.

Kofi-Bruce shared a few of the shop’s hot items with us. We hope you’ll swing by to see them in person. But in the meantime…

The Sunny Skies necklace (also pictured above) by Yueh-Wen Chang of Sora Designs has been a best-seller:
