Radiating from a bright naturally lit room on the 16th floor of Hotel Adagio in San Francisco, Nars Cosmetics National Trainer and stylist Janice Daoud applied make-up with pigmentations that match her bold signature cosmetic style during a recent event introducing local bloggers to the company’s latest products, including cream-textured eye shadows of sea-inspired blues to sheer, hot-off-the-runway coral lips.
If Daoud looks like Kim Kardashian’s SoCal cousin, there’s a reason. Along with an uncanny likeness to the starlet, Daoud also happens to be the starlet’s make-up artist. Despite her L.A. looks, she’s based in our foggy hills of San Francisco and has plenty of beauty advice for her fellow neighbors.
“Do a sheer foundation and just keep it very minimal for the San Francisco woman when’s she’s on the go and throw on a little bit of color going from day to night,” Daoud tells us.
But the most important advice she has is what we do before applying. “[San Franciscans] definitely need to hydrate their skin,” she says.
Living in the city, Daoud has noticed a colored eyeliner trend, but urges you to drop the color to your lips instead.
“I would love to see more of a bold lip come back,” Daoud says. To achieve this look, she suggests taking your favorite red lipstick, pressing it into your finger and gradually applying for luscious burgundy lips. Get all her advice by watching the video below.
