Age, Schmage: Guilded Youth Tonight

guilded-youth-invisiblehero-loft-1513-pic-comp

Tonight, get a peak at the latest from Charlie B. of Invisible Hero Industries, a veteran label on the local indie fashion scene, at Church Street boutique Loft 1513. Not for the preppy nor the particularly demure, the upcycled and almost exclusively one-of-a-kind pieces Charlie makes in her Hayes Valley studio frequently boast up-to-there hemlines, sheer panels and lace in silhouettes befitting the artsy adventures of the City’s free-wheeling and stylishly experimental set.

Along with the showing from Invisible Heroes, find a Champagne bar, beats, an outdoor garden to party in and a traveling photo booth ready to snap your best angles.

All Hail to Gail

At last week’s Fashion Feud finals, we were pleased to see more audience members than ever turn out for the event. Between moments catching up with designers like Bacca Da Silva and Charlie B of Invisible Hero Industries, we had a fine time watching Alexandria Von Bromssen, Gail B. Shrive and Julia Meeks concoct wearable ensembles from Mood fabrics in only an hour.

By the time Shrive (above right, with model) was announced as winner, the crowd was in fine spirits, thanks to the convivial surroundings (and a few drinks from Mighty’s bar, of course).

Shrive followed her win last week up with a show on Friday at Supperclub. Below, a few images of her latest work:

Setting up Trunk: Ashton Miyako Debuts with Help from Invisible Hero

charlie b and ashton miyakoFriends Charlie B of Invisible Hero Industries and Ashton Miyako debuted their fall apparel at the Red Haute + Blue Productions’ trunk show last night at Rosewood Bar.

We stopped by to find designer Charlie B focused on the future. The local designer is already plotting to don a sparkly plum dress by her longtime friend and budding designer Ashton Miyako this New Year’s Eve.

“I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m wearing this dress,” Charlie tells us as she pulls Miyako’s dress over her head.

Despite Charlie B’s encouragement, Miyako began the evening timid about debuting the clothing she recently started making.

“I love it and I have spent hours and hours making everything, but now I’m too afraid to open my first trunk and show everyone else,” Miyako told us.

Luckily for Miyako, Charlie was happy to play model and pull out dresses out for everyone to see. Soon, Miyako was pulling her suitcase out from under Charlie’s display and showing off her own creations, including a blue and pink layered skirt made of recycled suede.

And just like that, Miyako was in the midst of her first trunk show.
