Your body knows what it needs. If made-to-measure custom jeans are on the list, then move your body on over to 440 Brannan Studio tomorrow night for a glimpse at indiDenim’s indi By Appointment service, now available in San Francisco.

We hear that custom martinis, personal appointments with indiDenim stylists, a 30 percent discount card and a chance to win free jeans are also part of the evening’s festivities. Can’t make it tomorrow, but still interested in custom jeans? You can now schedule an appointment anytime and get fitted without leaving the City.

Indi Denim: The Final Chapter – Plus Free Jeans for You

indi-denim-trouser-jeansDying to know how our experience with indiDenim turned out? As you may recall, we visited the Emeryville-based company in January to try out the indiDenim Intellifit body scanner and order a new pair of jeans based on its high-tech measurements.

The jeans were ready within the four to six week time frame, so I headed into the indiDenim office for my final fitting. As I tried on the pair of trouser jeans I’d ordered (which look much like the jeans pictured here), I found myself wishing, hoping, crossing my fingers for a great fit. After all, the company did go out of its way to invite me in after the series of posts I’d written on this blog, and I was cringing at the thought of a negative turn-out.

But let’s hear it for modern technology, because the jeans fit almost perfectly. Barring a slight – very slight – tuck I’d take in the waist if I were in uber picky mode, they fit my body exactly as they should. The result is a super comfortable pair of jeans that I’ve found myself wearing multiple times a week.

And this time around, instead of offering up images of myself in the jeans as I did in past posts, I’ve got a different kind of gift to offer SF Indie Fashion readers. indiDenim has generously agreed to give the indiDenim Design Studio experience to one reader, whom I’ll be choosing over the next week. The winner will receive a gift card worth $170, a consultation with an indiDenim design consultant, an Intellifit body scan, ordering assistance for designing a great pair of jeans and a follow-up fitting when jeans arrive.

While I can’t restrict this offer to residents of the Bay Area, you’ll get the most out of it if you’re able to visit the indiDenim Design Studio in person, so keep that in mind.

Here’s how to win: leave a comment below (make sure to include a valid email address when you submit it). Comments will be accepted for the drawing until 11:59 p.m. (PST) on April 7, 2009. If you comment, your email address will go into a grab bag, and I’ll choose the winner April 8. Good luck!

Indi Denim: The Next Chapter

As SF Indie Fashion readers may recall, last summer, I embarked upon an experimental shopping journey through the IndiDenim ordering process. As I wrote in my first post Indi Denim: Part I, my goal at the time was as follows:

In my quest to a) avoid denim shopping and b) offer myself up as an online retail guinea pig to other indie fashion consumers, I’m going to report on my experience with the company from beginning to end.

Why? Because it can be a bit daunting to drop $135 on jeans you’ve never seen, much less tried on. But the concept intrigues me. So I decided, what the hey, let’s live crazy dangerously and offer our $135 up for the sake of SF Indie Fashion readers. Oh yeah, and my lower half, which I do sincerely hope will be wearing a decent, if not rad, pair of jeans when this is all said and done.

As many SF Indie Fashion readers already know, I did not keep the resulting pair of jeans. If you’re interested (and if you want to see some really embarrassing pictures of my lily white stomach), you can read what happened in Indi Denim: Part 2 and Indi Denim: Conclusion (Dangerous Curves Ahead).

In the end, I wasn’t happy with the pair of jeans I received. I returned them, promptly got a refund and chalked the experience up to blogging history.

So imagine my surprise when the company contacted me in December to ask whether I’d be willing to come in to their Emeryville-based headquarters to try out the Indi Intellifit Design Studio, a new body scanner designed to take perfect measurements in a few seconds while you’re standing there, fully clothed.
