Fun One: Indie Industries 1 Year Party

we-are-one-back_indie-industries

Tomorrow night, may we gently suggest that you consider hitting the beach. And when we say beach, we mean North Beach. The location? Indie Industries. The why? Because the cozy milk carton of a space is celebrating one year in The City, as well as a new art show featuring the work of Matt Atkins, Jason Raish and the guys of Hella More Funner (creators of the raddest – not to mention only – sleeping bag art we’ve ever seen).

Show up on the early side, and you might be lucky enough to scoop up one of the swag bags designated for the party’s first 25 guests. Whatever time you arrive, you’ll be gifted with sangria, a $10 rack and a buy-one, get-the-second-for-50-percent-off sale on everything in the store. Gift cards for $50 will be handed out randomly throughout the evening, and anyone who RSVPs in advance via Going will receive a $10 gift coupon emailed after the show.

We Got Carded: Fashion Slave Local Shoppers Club

fashion-slave-card_3

Being over we’re-not-tellin’-how-old, getting carded is something we relish almost as much as Audrina Patridge pretends to be enjoying that ridiculous Carl’s Jr. burger she’s mowwing in her latest (only?) commercial (seriously, you know the girl is not actually eating those things).

Another kind of getting carded we’ve been thrilled with lately? Our new Fashion Slave Local Shoppers Club card, pictured above in all its glory.

The card is the latest effort from Fashion Slave, whose founder and overall diva Kim C. ushers out-of-towners on neighborhood and underground tours of San Francisco’s best independent boutiques and local designers’ studios. After spending two years building a business that caters to San Francisco visitors, she’s got something up her sleeve for us local gals.

Purchase a card ($20 for the rest of ’09, but we hear the price will increase next year), and you’ll receive 10 percent off at any participating merchant, as well as discounts on Fashion Slave tours and exclusive deals at participating retailers. While the list of participating stores isn’t public yet, retailers offering the discount have the club’s logo in their windows and include local shops Candystore Collective, Density, Lemon Twist, Studio 3579 and Vintage a la Mode. We’re told restaurants and other types of local businesses will be coming on board next.

We think this makes a great gift option for San Francisco folks who love to shop local. To purchase, contact Fashion Slave or buy via the site’s purchase page (just enter $20 and Shoppers Club Card in the PayPal form).

Indi Denim: The Final Chapter – Plus Free Jeans for You

indi-denim-trouser-jeansDying to know how our experience with indiDenim turned out? As you may recall, we visited the Emeryville-based company in January to try out the indiDenim Intellifit body scanner and order a new pair of jeans based on its high-tech measurements.

The jeans were ready within the four to six week time frame, so I headed into the indiDenim office for my final fitting. As I tried on the pair of trouser jeans I’d ordered (which look much like the jeans pictured here), I found myself wishing, hoping, crossing my fingers for a great fit. After all, the company did go out of its way to invite me in after the series of posts I’d written on this blog, and I was cringing at the thought of a negative turn-out.

But let’s hear it for modern technology, because the jeans fit almost perfectly. Barring a slight – very slight – tuck I’d take in the waist if I were in uber picky mode, they fit my body exactly as they should. The result is a super comfortable pair of jeans that I’ve found myself wearing multiple times a week.

And this time around, instead of offering up images of myself in the jeans as I did in past posts, I’ve got a different kind of gift to offer SF Indie Fashion readers. indiDenim has generously agreed to give the indiDenim Design Studio experience to one reader, whom I’ll be choosing over the next week. The winner will receive a gift card worth $170, a consultation with an indiDenim design consultant, an Intellifit body scan, ordering assistance for designing a great pair of jeans and a follow-up fitting when jeans arrive.

While I can’t restrict this offer to residents of the Bay Area, you’ll get the most out of it if you’re able to visit the indiDenim Design Studio in person, so keep that in mind.

Here’s how to win: leave a comment below (make sure to include a valid email address when you submit it). Comments will be accepted for the drawing until 11:59 p.m. (PST) on April 7, 2009. If you comment, your email address will go into a grab bag, and I’ll choose the winner April 8. Good luck!
