New & Local in Ghirardelli Square: Jackson & Polk

Bringing yet more locally-designed style to Ghirardelli Square is new shop Jackson & Polk, the latest venture from Kristina De Pizzol, the longtime local designer of the Delilah Crown label and owner of whimsical emporium Gigi + Rose. Billed as the place to go for types who are “well-read with a sense of humor, stylish with an eye for comfort and modern with an appreciation for the past,” the shop features San Francisco landmarks on its walls and a mix of Bay Area-designed goods and well-known labels on its  racks.

It’s a notable arrival in an area heavily trafficked by tourists and a place for city dwellers and those from farther afield to hunt for apparel, accessories and gifts during their next trek to the Square. Stop in for Goorin Bros. hats, Chronicle books, Holga Cameras, kids’ items and apparel by TOMS, Nineteen47 and others.

Vital stats:

  • Who: Jackson & Polk
  • What: Store selling brands like Chronicle Books, Goorin Bros. hats, TOMS shoes, Nineteen47 brand tees, and Holga Cameras.
  • Where: Ghiradelli Square
  • When: Now! They opened August 10th.
  • How: Visit in person, online or call 415-765-9060

We were pleased as punch to get a sneak peek at the Bare Magazine December photo shoot with San Francisco First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom and even more so when we glimpsed the work of local designers featured prominently not only within the shoot, but on the magazine’s cover. That delicious poppy-hued dress Siebel’s wearing on the cover comes from the Christopher Collins spring 2010 collection.

“Our idea for this season was to put it on and walk out the door,” Collins told us when we asked him about the line during a recent phone chat.

Also featured in the shoot were pieces from Colleen Quen and footwear from Pacific Heights’ HeidiSays Shoes.

Along with a photo shoot in the Fairmont Heritage Place at Ghirardelli Square, the UC Berkeley publication dishes on Newsom’s relationship with the Gav and her everyday fashion choices.

See it for yourself when the issue drops next week.
