Wear it Many Ways: Sofie Ølgaard Spring Dress

sofie-o-dress-1

We’re having a love affair right now with clothing that can be worn multiple ways. We love the versatility of this dress from San Francisco designer and Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion 2008 alum Sofie Ølgaard.

Wear the sash around your neck for a shoulder-slimming, A-line look (we might even sport it in a bow or geek-chic bow tie for kicks) or wrap it around your waist to create a pretty, hourglass effect. You could also do away with the sash completely or sub in a colorful belt to create a ton of different looks. Don’t even get us started on the fab possibilities sure to unfold were a cute cardigan, patterned leggings or skinny jeans to collide with this piece….

We hear Sofie will be launching an online store in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out her work at The Mission Statement.

Inside the Gift Bag: Gen Art

Gift bags stuffed with goodies never fail to make our day. So we were oh-so happy to sit down in our seats at last week’s Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion show to find a stuffed bag waiting for us.

Doing the online gift bag reveal is kind of like fashion blogging’s version of porn, don’t you think? We especially loved our Goorin Brothers hats (the knit one on the left is going to be rockin’ Tahoe with me this winter), Ooma gift certificate ($5-$100 value, our was $5) and the free brow shaping from Benefit.

Imagine our surprise to find this little packet in our gift bag. Check out the unit on that guy! Woah nelly! In other news, yes, we do happen to be 12 years old.

Fresh Face: OdileOdette

There are two sides to every woman (and sometimes a whole lot more). Taking their name from the female rivals immortalized in Tchaikovsy’s ballet Swan Lake, Bay Area fashion talents Nichole Kreglow and Stephanie Bodnar turn that notion into clothing infused with just as much of virtuous Odette’s sweet innocence and grace as temptress Odile’s flirtatious mischeviousness through their up-and-coming label OdileOdette.

Part of the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion event tomorrow night, OdileOdette is set to deliver new pieces to the runway (be on the lookout for a killer open-front top in green paired with a sassy-but-smart pencil skirt, as well as the label’s signature asymmetrical sailor pants) just in time for the show. Expect the same refined, yet modern silhouettes of the design duo’s previous work, which Kreglow and Bodnar dub “Victorian mod,” alongside eco-chic elements like buttons made of tagua nuts (a.k.a. vegetable ivory).

Here, a few images from the current OdileOdette lookbook and, at the bottom, a shot of Kreglow and Bodnar.
