Checking out The Dresses/Objects Project

Here are two shots from The Dresses/Objects Project, on view through July 18 at Theater Artaud. I popped in yesterday to check out the exhibit of  dresses printed with quotes from poems in Gertrude Stein’s 1914 book Tender Buttons.

I’ll be covering the exhibit later this week on the San Francisco Chronicle’s SF Unzipped blog, so be sure to check out the full write-up there. In the meantime, here are two of my favorite pieces from the show.

It’s a small show, but interesting nonetheless, especially if you are interested in the intersection of fashion, craft, literature and art.

My recommendation would be to stop by the space on a weekend, as the artist behind the project, Katrina Rodabaugh, will be there sewing a final dress to add to the show.

Downtown Diversion: Harajuku Fashion Photography Exhibit

There’s a cool little photography exhibit showcasing Harajuku kids in Tokyo on display this month at the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco on Fremont. If you love independent-minded fashion, this Japanese phenomenon is about as indie as you can get.

For the details on the show, check out Lorraine’s Harajuku Fashion on Display post on the 7×7 Glamwatch blog today.
