TGIF, folks. Here’s some stylish stuff to distract you from your duties and pepper your weekend with independent fashion fun…

- Woah nelly, there are oodles of great events going down this weekend in the Bay Area. In the fashion-related realm, there’s the Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire in San Mateo, the Union Design Festival (formerly Capsule) in Hayes Valley on Sunday and, we’re happy to report, Funk ‘N Trunk is back this weekend after a hiatus. Visit the SF Indie Fashion Calendar for all the details.

- 1767 Church St., the sister shop to Lower Haight boutique doe, closes on Saturday. Stop by by end-of-day tomorrow for up to 75 percent off the shop’s merch. In July, we hear the shop will become Curator, a new venture from She-Bible.

- Speaking of Church Street, merchants up and down it and 24th Street will be showing off their wares and offering tons of sales this weekend as part of the 2nd Annual Noe Valley Sidewalk Sale.

- Pacific Heights trio of Heidi Says shops will be having a trio of trunk shows tomorrow. Stop by any of the three locations for 20 percent off collections by Gorjana, Kathy Kamei and Gypsy 05.

- Craziness at Artificial Flavor: Guys’ jackets that once went for $200+ are now $20 a piece. Sale ends tomorrow.

- Head to Fort Mason this weekend to get in on two huge sales. Both The Warehouse Sale for premium denim and the Gear Up ‘N Go Season 4 Sale for fitness apparel take place there this weekend.

- A “private” sale is on at Elizabeth Charles. Use the discount code PRESALE when shopping online or mention the presale email in the store to get 30 percent off spring and summer collections.

- Daily Candy reports a Mike & Chris blowout sale happening tomorrow in San Francisco. We are most intrigued.

- We had a great time viewing the latest collection from Zoe Bikini last night at the Bella Forever show. Stay tuned for a video and some pics from that event to appear here soon.

- A bunch of new shops are opening soon, on land and online. Keep your peepers peeled for word about launch parties and newness from Ibiss, Covet and AliceAndIsa.com.

- Fans of BRAVO’s The Fashion Show: You can meet designer Andrew Christian this weekend and see a fashion show of his men’s underwear collection during his upcoming San Francisco appearances.

Leather Feathers and More from Mariele Williams

Ready for an afternoon challenge? Of course you are. Try saying “leather feather” to yourself on repeat. While you’re playing with that one, get a load of these leather feathers by Mariele Williams, a local artist and designer we were amped to get a chance to chat with this week.

As Lorraine wrote on the 7×7.com Glamwatch blog yesterday, Mariele creates jewelry using feathers and skins from fallen animals sourced from her family in Montana, as well as wood she shapes and cuts using the band saw that currently resides in her bedroom. Yes, her bedroom.

But don’t worry, her band-mate neighbors are even louder, she reports. While they’re rocking out until the wee hours in the SoMa apartment upstairs, Williams does her woodworking and jewelry-making until she can’t keep her eyes open any longer and collapses into bed. And though she likes San Francisco living, the 21-year-old says she’d rather be a hermit living in some wild, forgotten spot where she could do her art in peace and then jet into town as business beckoned.

We dig her focus on sustainability and recycling found materials, as well as her diehard artist’s spirit. How can you not respect a girl who’s totally cool with sawdust covering her bedroom floor and a pheasant carcass tossed across her desk?

You can check out Mariele’s work in person by visiting her at Lower Haight boutique doe, where she’s an artist-in-residence and also an employee, as well as at Divisadero Street antiques shop The Perish Trust. You’ll also find her work for sale online in her etsy shop.

A Dress For Today: Modaspia’s Strappy Fiji

On a day like today, when it’s too hot to even lift our little finger above the key board, when we appreciate iced coffee more than good lovin’, when we might just go drive around aimlessly simply for the AC, we crave an effortless coverup like the Modaspia Strappy Fiji Dress, shown here in ivory cotton voile.

Designed in the Sierra Foothills by Ursula Dean and made in San Francisco, Modaspia is available online and at such indie-friendly Bay Area stores as ooma, doe, Ambiance, Candystore Collective and Ladita.

New at Feisty Elle: Laser-Cut Felt Dahlia Earrings

Graphic designer and Feisty Elle owner Leslie Yang just launched new laser-cut earrings and brooches in 100 percent felted merino wool. The Red Dahlia earrings pictured here are the debut earring design from Yang’s San Francisco-based handmade accessories label best known for brooches and hair accessories.

Hung on 14K gold hoops, the earrings have the unusual distinction of being both visually high impact and ultra lightweight – so you can rock them all day long without encountering pesky lobe-fatigue. And at $28, they’re almost as light on your fashion budget as they are on your ears…

Four Way: Revelation By M.E. Christine Dress

What can we say? We’re on a wear-it-more-ways-than-one kick this week that can’t be stopped. First, we mentioned Sofie Olgaard’s versatile spring dress. Next, we highlighted new looks from Please Dress Up, whose Infinite Possibilities collection features a series of pieces that can be worn in a slew of different configurations.

Today, we’re turning our switch-it-up style spotlight on up-and-coming label Revelation by M.E., a San Francisco-based line launched earlier this year by FIDM graduates Myrda Monasterial and Eloisa Serrano.

For their spring-summer 2009 debut collection, the design duo offers up form-fitting dresses that are ready to part-ay any night of the week, but can be worn in at least four ways (you know, in case you don’t have time to run home to change in between engagements).

We had the chance to stop by a recent photo shoot at SoMa’s Barber Lounge to check out the line and view designs from the forthcoming fall collection, which features even more moving pieces that can be worn in multiple ways to create different looks. We’re excited to see what’s next for this local San Francisco design team.

Want to get your hands on Revelation by M.E.’s spring-summer collection? It arrives at San Francisco boutiques Mingle and Union B next month.
