Why so much hype about a scarf? Well, for one thing, have you looked outside today? For another, the new summer scarf from made-in-the-Mission label Distilled is the company’s very first unisex piece (Yeah, we know. We said, “unisex piece”). Giggles aside, we’re seriously amped about what this means for our fashion futures: Distilled for women, coming later this fall.

For a taste of what’s to come, check out Lorraine’s post announcing the Distilled San Francisco Summer Scarf on the 7×7 Glamwatch blog today. To score a scarf of your own, head to Hayes Valley’s Nomads or pop onto the Distilled web site to explore its online shop.

But before you go, peruse the images that follow.

3 Things We Love At Alice and Isa

June 11th, 2009

It’s no surprise we’re eagerly anticipating the launch of online boutique Alice and Isa, which officially opens for business tomorrow (though there’s a party tonight at Modern Relics where you can meet many of the local designers the shop is carrying).

For the party info and background on the online destination for independent San Francisco designers, check out Lorraine’s post on the shop that appeared on 7×7’s Glamwatch blog this week: Two-Faced and Lovin’ It: Alice and Isa Boutique Launches.

A little additional background that didn’t make it into that post:

- Founder Dawn Miller used to be a stylist for legal professionals, but ending up working with more style-hungry wives-of-lawyers than actual suits. And so began her foray into the more artistic, free-spirited side of fashion….

- Founder Stephanie has designed her own handbags (though they aren’t sold in the store) and brings the designer mindset to the project.

- Dawn told us when we spoke that, “We feel that people kind of look down on San Francisco design….We want to show New York and L.A. that great design is happening here, but you just need to know where to look.”*

We like how diverse the store’s offerings are - much like the city itself. Here are three items we love that show the breadth of the site’s style parameters:

49 Square Miles Big Mouth Hobo

Four-Strand Sterling Silver Chain Necklace by Erin Hakansson

(*Um, like, need we even say major ditto on that one? Okay, saying it anyway.)
