The Do List: SF Fashion Events Feb. 6-12

Yes, Fashion Week is kicking off in #NYC. But there are still reasons to love life in San Francisco. If you’re computer-bound, as I often am, spend free minuteswatching livestreams from New York fashion blogger conference IFBCon and the Fashion Week runway show featuring local alums of Academy of Art University. Also enticing and on the horizon are Thursday’s Pre-Valentine’s Day Party at Photobooth and, once the weekend rolls around, the return of the always-fruitful BCBG & Ella Moss Sample Sale and the most recent I.R.L. Black Pyramid Pop-Up, sure to prompt fans of recent vintage to make a beeline for the Haight.

The Do List: SF Fashion Events Jan. 30-Feb. 5

Three things I generally can’t get enough of: retro-inspired fashion, deals on local designers and getting seriously geeky about blogging. Good thing there’s a little of each one on the horizon this week. The 2nd annual Lesley Evers Studio Sample Sale in Berkeley means a chance to save up to 80 percent on the designer’s v. cute printed dresses, skirts and tops. In San Francisco, I’ll be speaking at Thursday’s FIDM fashion blogging event with Fashionista Lab, Calivintage, FashionablyAshley and iFabbo. Last but not least, Friday’s Girl Power Hour brings a chance to network and unwind at the same time.

On the style forecast this week: plenty of snow, the kind that’s actually conducive to heels and comes around but once a year. Snow, A White Fashion Event is back with its annual show featuring all-white collections from local designers and an audience clad in outfits to match. Also on the horizon this week: another Do-It-Yourself Marketing event at TechShop San Francisco put on by jewelry designer Shana Astrachan and Genevieve Robertson of Lightbox SF, a men’s vintage fashion show in the Mission, the return of Geek Style Lounge and the kickoff of the Treasure Island Flea winter pop-up.

Maybe it’s just us, but it certainly seems like everywhere we turn, folks in local fashion and beyond are revved up and ready to give their careers and creative pursuits a shot in the arm for the year ahead. Evidence of this comes in the form of career-amping classes and gatherings on the horizon this week, including a Do-It-Yourself Marketing event at TechShop San Francisco put on by jewelry designer Shana Astrachan and Genevieve Robertson of Lightbox SF, PeopleWearSF’s Fashion Industry Networking Night and an evening of stories by Successful Women in Manufacturing presented by SFMade.

The Do List: San Francisco Fashion Events Jan. 9-15

Now that ’12 is officially underway (’cause we all know the first week doesn’t really count), San Francisco fashion events are popping up after a holiday hiatus. This week, we’re betting local fashion fans will carve out time for the launch event of a new fashion and technology accelerator program, the second SF Fashion + Tech event and the always-fun annual sample sale at the Oakland studio of Verrieres & Sako.
