Though best known for its globally-inspired children’s apparel, San Francisco-based label Tea Collection is making stroller-friendly strides into womenswear with a fall collection full of easy-to-wear separates in bright, autumnal hues.
At a recent preview of its forthcoming fall lines for Bay Area bloggers and media, Tea Collection opened its studios in lower Potrero Hill up for an evening of drinks, food and fashion celebrating the colors and flavors of Mexico. Distributed nationally in boutiques and department stores such as Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue and in four countries outside the United States, the company selects a new destination each season to inspire and guide its latest looks. Notably, the Tea doesn’t just choose a country and sift through images and online guidebooks. In creating its fall collection, for example, Tea sent part of its team to multiple locations in Mexico, where they scoured markets, visited cultural landmarks and met with local artisans.
The resulting collection for women puts the emphasis on the casual, toss-on-and-go pieces the moms buying its children’s apparel are likely to be looking for. A pair of slim trousers offer a jean alternative that goes beyond basic mom gear with on-trend pleats and tapered, rolled ankles, while an eye-catching orange knit capelet is both a standout and a staple. Wide-leg jeans, a lightweight chambray blazer and loose-fitting tops and tunics round out the basics-with-a-twist offerings.
The collection will be available in stores come fall. In the meantime, a few more images to tide you over:
