The latest from local label Saffron Rare Threads continues designer Priya Saraswati’s emphasis on versatile, feminine silhouettes and clean, uncluttered designs in a summer collection of basics with a twist featuring a palette of solid hues.
Ready-to-wear separates in pink, royal blue and neutral black and white are, for the most part, up-for-anything pieces with office-to-party appeal. A streak of youthfulness appears in the subdued snake print of the slim-fitting Gayatri skirt and the twisted shoulder of the asymmetrical Zahira top, while the Tarala dress, Usha top, a boxy jacket and plain-front blazer keep the line grounded and can easily act as wardrobe staples.

A viewing party for the Saffron Rare Threads Summer 2011 line takes place on Thursday at the Embarcadero Center store and includes wine by Alex Sotelo Cellars, a special street food vendor, a 7:30 p.m. fashion show and 15 percent off all night.
