Almost every seat was taken for the San Francisco State University show at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria.
Hitting the runway at the San Francisco State University spring fashion show this year were short hemlines, feathers and convertible ensembles showcasing fashion students’ taste for fun, edgy, youthful fashion.
The first of the student fashion shows to arrive this year, the show, officially dubbed Enchantment 2011, included work from 34 students presented before an audience of fellow students, faculty, alums, press and some local celebrities such as Christopher Collins. Some designers submitted single pieces, which appeared during a group segment that kicked off the show. Next came small collections of garments that ranged from casual separates and children’s apparel to cocktail and wedding attire. Proceeds from the event benefited San Francisco nonprofit Visions of La Moda, which offers free classes to City youth interested in pursuing careers in the fashion industry.
Below, some highlights from the show.

This little boy nearly stole the show during designer QianMo-Falgirette's presentation of women's and children's apparel made using recycled textiles.

Seen here with its billowing white skirt removed, this wedding dress by designer Kathryn Ryder quickly becomes a strapless dress ready to meet the demands of the dance floor.
