These are my nails 11 days after getting a shellac manicure for the first time.
No chips yet. Wonder if I’ll make it the full two weeks these kinds of manicures are supposed to hold up. I’m optimistic. But just the fact that I can now have a chip-free manicure 11 days after the fact is amazing. I’m sold, though the technician that did these said it’s not a good idea to repeatedly get shellac manis without taking a break. She suggested going with regular polish after two or three times or so to keep the nails healthy.
I got these done at Sunset Nails on Dolores at 30th for a relatively inexpensive $25. Most places charge more (and probably pamper you more in the process, but I’m AOK with the utilitarian mani-pedi these days). I was told that the lighter colors tend to chip more quickly, not that I’ve seen that to be true yet, but next time I’ll probably try something darker and more daring.
