Getting Played: Fashionista FaceOff

We’ve been known to play games, but usually not of the online variety (unless you count stalking deals on local merch, of course). But new San Francisco-grown game Fashionista FaceOff has us intrigued, thanks to its welcome marriage of social media, fashion and straight-up style competition.

Playing is easy: all you need is a Facebook account and some time to kill (we’re serious about this part. Our first foray with the app quickly turned into an hour). Players compete by shopping and then creating looks inspired by a new theme announced by the game’s creators each week. Looks are voted on, and those with the most progress higher and higher in the competition. The top players are entered into an annual competition judged by Bay Area fashion well-knowns Charleston Pierce, Karen Tamblyn, Keylee Sanders and Joel Goodrich.

Created by Goodrich and Damion Matthews (of SFLuxe.com fame), the game can be seriously addictive, thanks to fun tools that allow you not only to shop for apparel and accessories, but to also determine the hair, makeup and facial features of your models.
