On Saturday, we headed to the Mission to check out Market SF, a weekly artist showcase at The Blue Macaw. We found tons of great, unique items and met local artists who design and sell their products in San Francisco. Here are some of the highlights:
The featured artist was Compass Rose Design. Each piece is handmade by Creek, the founder and designer. She takes antiques (some over 150 years old) and refashions them beautifully. Not only is each piece unique, but also has a story behind it. Check out the custom pocket watch jewelry below:
Next, we met Max Allbee from Max Plus Mar. An artist by day and DJ by night, Max designs all of the clothing and accessories himself. You also find his work online in his etsy shop and meet him in person this weekend during Open Studios.
Leah from Coffee n Cream Press makes custom letterpress designs and handmade stationary. Her work is totally classy and personal.
There were knitted hats, scarves, gloves and more from nrgee. Nicola creates all of her fiber creations using super soft merino, silk, mohair and alpaca wool.
We had a great time learning about Zakka (a Japanese term for items that improve your home, life and outlook) from Elizabeth. She transforms used materials into cute jewelery and trinkets.
Last, but not least, we met Jenn from Romey Designs. Not only is she the founder of Market SF, but she is also an artist and participant. Jenn makes custom shirts and baby clothes using only quality materials. Thank you Jenn, for giving local artists a great place to showcase their artwork.
If you want to find unique, one of a kind items and support local artists, check out Market SF at The Blue Macaw every Saturday from noon to 6pm.
