Make Scents: Heliotrope Bath & Body Launches

For the nose that knows exactly what it wants, the custom aromas of newly launched bath and body products by San Francisco-based Heliotrope offer a scents-able solution.

The latest from the Church Street destination for eco-friendly skincare and aromatherapy opened earlier this summer by Jonathan Plotzker and Don Snider, the expansive line features 48 products for men and women that can be scented in the shop with your choice of essential oils and proprietary scent blends. Using all-natural ingredients such as olive oil, shea butter and aloe vera from local sources, Heliotrope bath and body offerings ($5-$29) range from shampoo to body wash to sugar scrub and shaving cream.

No fragrances are added to the products, leaving customers free to pick and choose their own scents.

“What makes us special is the fact that everything can be personalized for each client, either leaving it fragrance free if that’s what you like, or adding your favorite oil or oil blend to have your own special formula….We’re also hoping that guys find the space welcoming, too, as well as the lack of flowery smells,” Plotzker tell us.

Along with botanicals and essential oils, the line emphasizes organic ingredients whenever possible.

“They’re all-natural, locally-sourced, as organic as we can get. About 20 percent of the line thus far,” Plotzker says.

While most items fall under the $20 mark, the two that exceed it sound especially enticing: Shea Butter & Pomegranate Face Cream ($24) and Organic Agave & Shea Butter Sugar Scrub ($29).

Up next? An online shop, coming soon to the web site. In the meantime, you’ll find lots of action on the Heliotrope Facebook page.
