I’ll admit it. I didn’t even watch the finale of last season’s Project Runway until three weeks after the fact on DVR. So when Erica Tanamachi, the creative director behind San Francisco label Christopher Collins, got in touch today to say that Christopher is one of season 8′s contestants, I was not only thrilled to hear that a local was once again going to be on the show, but also thankful that there’s now more than one reason to watch (the other obviously being Tim Gunn).
It will be interesting to see how Collins, an affable guy who has been unflappably nice every time I’ve met him (and owns a pet chicken, a random factoid that I’m obsessed with), interacts with the other designers, as there’s sure to be some snarky-McSnarks in the bunch.
Here’s hoping he hangs in and powers through the experience, which I hear is a long, exhausting and, at times, grueling one from former contestants that I’ve interviewed, among them Andrew Christian and Jay Nicolas Sario.
Want to catch the first ‘sode of Project Runway Season 8? It airs on Lifetime at 9 p.m. on July 29.
