Go Somewhere: Jendarling Vagabond Collection

jendarling-garment-bag

Here at SF Indie Fashion, we are always thrilled when we can find locally-designed items of the sort we ordinarily have to grudgingly hunt for at major retailers. Things like lingerie, shoes and luggage fall into this category. As most fans of independent fashion and design can attest, locally-made jewelry and t-shirts abound. But try to find an indie garment bag, and you’re likely to come up S.O.L.

That’s where Jendarling Bags come in. Fresh from designer Jennifer Bennett, the Jendarling Limited Edition Vagabond Collection for spring features eco-friendly cotton twill and duck canvas garment bags, shoe bags, totes and cosmetic pouches with vegetable leather and vintage-inspired prints. We seriously dig the spatter-paint look of the Pacific Garment Bag ($134) shown above.

Feeling down with JDB? Then you’re in luck. Through noon tomorrow, save 20 percent on orders placed through the site with the coupon code WEEKEND. For every bag you buy, the company will donate $10 to a tree-planting project in Haiti through Global Giving.

Want to see them with your own eyes? Head to Eco Citizen, where the new Vagabond collection just landed – and keep your peepers peeled for Jendarling on the upcoming second season of The Rachel Zoe Project (it’s okay, you can admit you’ve seen it. We die!).

Would You Ever Buy Clothing in a Set?

yesstyle-celli-girl-set

One of the things that has intrigued us most since we started getting to know SF Indie Fashion sponsor YesStyle.com earlier this year is the Asian fashion retailer’s massive selection of clothing sets. Outside of a stray twin set on a department store discount rack, we haven’t seen clothing sold in sets in years, so it totally caught our attention to find an entire section devoted to sets on the site. In many ways, the notion of buying an outfit as a set goes against all our fashion sensibilities. After all, isn’t the whole point (not to mention fun) of fashion to pick and choose different pieces that reflect our personal style?

But as we began checking out YesStyle.com’s seemingly endless array of coordinated ensembles, we became intrigued by the idea of purchasing an entire outfit in one fell swoop. Yeah, it makes us feel a little like we’re eight years old again and shopping with mom and dad’s help. But there’s something deliciously lazy about being able to select an entire outfit in one click that holds a certain appeal for the wardrobe-weary mind.

Thus far, all we’ve done is look. If we take the plunge and try a set, we’ll be sure to report back and let you know how it went. In the meantime, what do you think? Would you ever wear a set? Perhaps the better question is, if you did, would you admit it?

Indie Mart Rides Again

The Indie Mart does its thang again this weekend at The Independent. You’ll find a bunch of new-the-mart designers in the mix, as well as shops like CC Rider and Shotwell on the scene. Along with cool stuff and adult beverages you can buy with your recessionary cash, D.I.Y. stations, live sewing and DJs will be on hand for your observational entertainment. Go on, twist our arms….just don’t spill our drinks in the process.
