The Firm Wants to Give You Champagne & Cupcakes

champcupcake09.jpg

This reminds us of a long-honored piece of wisdom we try to live our lives by: When someone offers you Champagne and cupcakes, take them.

In this case, you technically should be the subject of an impending wedding to partake of this event from The Firm & And Something Blue. Suppose how far you’ll go depends on just how much you like the aforementioned goodies.

(P.S. If you’re looking for some fabulicious bubbly, may we strongly recommend a visit to Iron Horse for the Ultra Brut. We had it last weekend and can’t stop thinking about it. Good thing there’s a bottle of it chilling in the wine fridge right behind us. And yes, our wine fridge IS in the same room as our desk.)

ReadyMade’s Last Local Party

ReadyMade magazine’s headquarters relocated earlier this month to its publisher’s existing offices in Des Moines and New York, and, from what we have heard, most of the staffers are staying put (because c’mon, why would anyone leave the Bay Area?).

Tonight, the D.I.Y.er’s bible celebrates its last locally-produced issue, and you’re invited to join in on the bittersweet send-off (and snag a free copy of the latest issue).

Local Designer’s Bart Gun Shirts Benefit Oscar Grant Family

Bravo to local graphic designer Matthew Williams for presenting this much-needed update to the existing BART logo. As Williams recently wrote on his blog, he created the logo in an effort to reflect the Bay Area transit agency’s nationally recognized “get-tough approach to crime.”

Sport one of these and, so the t-shirt’s description reads, “you can experience the feeling of being targeted–and possibly shot–by BART police.”

All proceeds from the t-shirt sales will be donated to the family of Oscar Grant, the Oakland man whose video-taped execution-style murder at the hands of BART security officers on New Year’s Day ignited a national uproar.

Our wrists are twisting over the new Large Fleurette Bracelet by Viv & Ingrid. There’s just something dashing about black onyx, especially when it’s cut so it catches the light. The same bracelet is also available in white.

Right now, Viv & Ingrid is in the midst of a Valentine’s Day sale that runs through Feb. 16, 2009. Use the promo code love 25 at checkout to save 25 percent on orders over $75.
