Gift List: Top San Francisco Stores for Gifts

Everyone has their gift go-to stores – you know, the places you head when you need a great gift, like right now, and you don’t have time to dilly dally amongst the shelves at multiple shops, wait for shipping or hop from neighborhood to neighborhood. When that happens, SF Indie Fashion turns to several San Francisco stores again and again. A few of our favorite San Francisco stores for gifts:

Rose and Radish: Head here for unique housewares, notecards and flowers – all displayed in a gallery-like installation setting with themes that change throughout the year.

Rare Device: Also a great place for unusual objects for the home, but a standout for its art prints, gift-worthy design books, jewelery and apparel by independent designers from around the country. It’s the sort of place you can pick up a funky belt buckle, a dude-appropriate messenger bag and a beautiful etched wine glasses all in one fell swoop.

Lavish: This where we head when we need a gift for a baby shower, new moms and women who like soft, sunny, feminine items with a distinct San Francisco flavor. Wooden kids toys, adorable clothes and cute blankets accompany candles, bath products and jewelry for mom.

Bell Jar: While the apparel and accessories here are envy-inducing, they may be a little bit pricey for get-it-and-go gifts. That said, the candles, soaps and lotions are perfect – and many come boxed and tied – basically ready to go without extra wrapping on your part.

Artist Xchange: Just down the block from Bell Jar, this well-stocked gallery always has some of our favorite local artists’ work available at affordable prices. We popped by over the weekend to see paintings by Hilary Williams, ceramics from Joanna Mendicino, screenprint tees by local designers, note cards, jewelry and housewares – all made by folks from in and around the Bay Area.
