Okay, it’s not exactly pool time just yet (arguably, it never is in the city). Nevertheless, I’m on the prowl for a smashing suit thanks to an April trip to St. Martin that’s on my horizon. Cannot f-ing wait.
So in my ongoing attempts to shop indie, I’ve been looking for an indie-made bathing suit to don when my trip comes around. Imagine my delight when I came across this lovely retro 2-Piece Keyhole Swimsuit by Oakland-based AC Clothing & Bags, the label of designer Amy M. Cools.
I happened upon her site after perusing the racks yesterday at Venus Superstar (which I’d like to rave about but must wait until after something I’ve just written on the shop runs), and I found some cool dresses and tops there from AC Clothing & Bags. So I came home and hopped on the site and voila – indie bathing suit!
Amy sells some of her items in an etsy shop and some in a separate eBay shop. She’s trying to decide which to go with permanently. I’m hoping to see some more of Amy’s works in person this weekend at the Porcelynne open house in Oakland. Both designers have space in the same building. You can find more out about the open house on Porcelynne’s site or the SF Indie Fashion Calendar.
