It seems like half the designers in the Bay Area have news they want to share this week. First up, Bari J. Handbags has added this sweet raised velvet print pictured below, as well as a line of black and white patchwork handbags and accessories (great for the neutral hues positively saturating the stores this fall). And shipping is free for all orders within the continental US of A.
The folks at Waterfield Designs also wrote in to say they’ve just added a slew of new accessories cases for iPods and iPhones. Seriously, if you’ve got a portable device and you want to cover it, this local computer bag and accessories designer has something that you’ll like.
Hot on the heels of introducing the Marlo Tote at the San Francisco Gift Fair in August, Queen Puff Puff reports that this roomy bag (pictured on the left) has already become a best-seller. Available in 12 retro-inspired prints and lined in satin, the tote has an 18″ base, 18″ straps and is 12″ tall – so it can work as a large carry-all handbag or a second bag. The Queen has also added fun wristlets and new prints for her ever-popular line of belts and headbands. You’ll also find deep discounts on discontinued prints in Queen Puff Puff’s Etsy Shop.
Next up, we have news from Sample Angel that new sweater and handbag arrivals will be on sale this weekend, Thursday-Sunday. Cashmere and knit sweaters from Maya and handbags by Sobella will be deeply discounted. The shop will also have extended hours so you can get your sale on. Can’t make it into the shop? Then check out (literally) the new online shop – there are some truly great deals to be had. Incidentally, I was in Sample Angel a few weekends back and made out like a friggin’ bandit. Can you say Lotta Stensson top for $10? Wha? I was in heaven.
Ashley Rogers of Green Halo is pleased to announce the arrival of her brand new web site. If you want to congratulate her in person and perhaps pick up one of the divine creations in her new Venus Collection, inspired by her travels through Thailand and Cambodia, make sure to stop by the Green Halo booth on Sunday at the Heart of Cole Street Festival in Cole Valley. If you do, you’ll find items like the Indira necklace, pictured here.
Peggy Li of Peggy Li Creations reports that she is ultra into warm jewel tones like those in the Jumbo Carnelian Drop Earrings (pictured here) and charms for fall. She’s also having a sweet little sale.
And in Noe Valley, jewelry designer Mabel Chong has just opened Uncivilized Elegance (how many of us can relate to that?!) at 1311 Church Street (cross is 25th) to house her growing collection of jewelry made with semi-precious stones. It’s her first retail shop – she was at one point working in the back of Candystore, but that was just a studio work space. She and husband Mark have decorated the small space up quite nicely – the leopard rug is to die for. L.A.’s Fred Segal just started carrying her designs – which, as we all know, is not a shabby turn of events. She just had her first baby, so the store hours aren’t set in stone. You can find her there on weekends this month, with expanded hours coming next month.
