I picked up a California Gold t-shirt from Oakland-based designer Jasmine Moorhead’s table at an Appel & Frank event a while back. It really fulfilled my need to continuously give props to California for being the f-ing rad state that it is (nevermind my Southern relatives who refer to it as the last bastion of communist activity within the continental US). On each shirt, Moorhead uses images that are actually film stills taken from her original footage. Along with California Gold, there are Mississippi Green and New York Nickle tees. I can attest to the good fit and the long lasting quality of the image transfers (or whatever the technical term for them is… they aren’t screen printed.)
These are also good original gifts for people – you know, a creative way to bypass the Haight St San Francisco t-shirt shops and yet still achieve that “I’ve been there, and I luv it,” kind of mission, if that makes any sense.
