I learned about the Global Fashion | Local Tradition exhibit in the Netherlands from Gadling, an adventure travel blog. While participating designers range from big names to no names, the point of the show is to illustrate how fashion trends and the fashion industry is no longer concentrated and isolated in a few major cities. Instead, the exhibit posits, fashion is becoming an increasingly global affair, with each culture and different cities around the world creating their own fashions from the melting pot of ideas available to modern designers. The result is fashion that mixes traditional costume with adopted trends from foreigners in a million surprising ways.
Here’s a little bit about it from Wallpaper mag.
